The distillery

‘A.van Wees distillery de Ooievaar’ is the last authentic distillery left in Amsterdam.
We’re settled in the Driehoekstraat, in the centre of the ‘Jordaan’. Our specialities are Old Dutch Genevas and liquors.

Pure nature

Our products are creative compositions exclusively made of pure natural raw materials, which you will surely notify while tasting them. We inherited our knowledge about taste properties of fruit, flowers, plants, roots and seeds. This knowledge we use to balance the taste, without the addition of artificial flavours. The drinks are coloured with natural colorants. That’s how real fluid artwork on alcohol arise.

History

Ancient family business
‘A.van Wees distillery de Ooievaar’ arises in 1782. Until 1970 we delivered our products on casks to bars and restaurants. Due to changing markets and the threatening diminishing quality of the Dutch cultural inheritance, we decided to stick to our traditional assortment and started selling our products in stone and glass bottles. At this very moment the distillery is run by Fenny van Wees, who runs the business with a small loyal crew.

The reputation of our distillery is based on our very past. These roots, our involvement with our products and the extreme interest for our profession keeps us far away from mass production. Preserving a once world-wide famous Dutch cultural inheritance, authenticity en quality are the reasons for inspiring us.
